Carry Forward
Carry forward is a term used in almost every industry. In terms of the HR industry, carry forward refers to usually, the entitlements you are able to carry forward from one period to another.
An example of carrying forward will be, you have 30 days entitlement to paid vacation leave in one calendar year, but you could take only 25 days during the year. So the company may allow you to carry forward the 5 days and add it to the next year’s entitlement, so you can take 35 days in the next year, instead of the general 30-day entitlement, because of adding the 5 days carried over from previous year.
