Focal Point – Explained

Assume that you are running an HR Department for an organization and some of your employees do not have access to an individual PC or a general kiosk, they may not understand the world of computers, or simply not be interested in it, as they are not tech-savvy, or simply don’t want to do this additional process of applying electronically.

You now have automated all of the processes through an easy-to-use Employee Self Service Portal on the cloud, applications like leave applications, air tickets, loans, overtime, etc. can now be applied online, any time of the day 24 hours a day 7 days a week.  What if certain employees in the organization do not follow the workflow processes, they simply don’t want to apply requests online through the portal.  It would take away the objective of automation in the first place.  What will happen to all those requests you wanted to go paperless with, with your new-age Cloud-based HR and payroll solution.  Where each employee has their own individual login and place requests from the centralized HR portal or the HR mobile app.

Well, that’s where the Focal Point concept fits right in.  Many HR and Payroll Solutions will give you a concept of Focal Point or On Behalf Of, where a Manager or Supervisor can act on behalf of the individual employee and place requests and take necessary actions on those requests on behalf of the employee, rather than the employee placing the requests, thereby creating an either-or scenario, so it’s either the employee can do transactions on their own or the Focal Point can act on their behalf.

With HR Chronicle you can have many configuration levels, you can have a simplistic yet sophisticated and a very powerful Focal Point process in place.  Focal point process not only extends to specific requests but it can extend to all of the employee self service requests available within your organization.
